So I worked 8 hours on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. My back is killing me, my children were stuck fending for themselves but I loved every minute of it! Most of Saturday was spent cutting and sewing these tiny little 1 inch triangles together so after 8 hours of that I thought I would move to larger triangles on Sunday. After several hours of math trying to figure out how many triangles would fit the 30 ½ inches I finally just gave up and went for it (Bad idea). So now I’m stuck piecing together add ons to try and make them fit. Also, I wanted the finished squares to look like star burst but for some reason they don’t all look the same (I can’t figure out why!) I don’t think I have the stomach to rip out all those seems so I may just keep them the way they are, she will never know and it adds character. Just another lesson learned…
A few hints to make life easier; Switch to an extra large exercise ball to sit on instead of a chair. It helps with posture and your butt won’t go numb after 10 hours. Make sure you have a TV or computer to watch movies on while you work. It’s a great way to catch up on a series you’ve missed. Give the children so many choirs it will be impossible for them to finish. They will hide from you most of the day so you won’t ask how much they’ve accomplished. You will have a lot more uninterrupted sewing time.
This week I need to pick up another 2 yard of material and the batting. My goal is to have everything sewn together at the end of next weekend so I can start the quilting process.
