Sometimes you have a hard day with your teenager and you’re glad to go back to the office….
For the most part my girls are the best! But on occasion they have been known to be a little on the “I can’t wait for you to grow up and leave my house” side of the fence. Last week we had a few of those days. Because I was off from work and had a lot of time to sew I also had a lot of time to think. I started equating raising teenagers to quilting.
*Each time I started a new section of the quilt, the stitches looked a little different. This reminded me of how every day is a mystery with them; you never know what you will get. One day they are perfect in every way and a joy to behold; the next day they could be so out of line that you want to rip them apart and start over.
*Every time there was a knot in the thread it reminded me that there will be hard time that we will struggle through but if we can just work it out the outcome will be worth it. Sometime you shouldn’t cut the thread and start over, you need to be patient and work it out.
My Mother has this great saying; “God makes teenagers act the way they do so it’s easier to kick them out of the nest. If they were perfect all the time we would never want them to leave us”. Thank you for your wisdom Mom!
Meanwhile the quilt is coming along. The middle is done and I’m moving on to the sides. I took the day off yesterday from sewing to relax and watch the Super Bowl. I’m ready to jump back in tonight after work.
